Author and enthusiast Chris Bunch will be giving us a presentation on the history of The Bisley Tramway.
The talk will include a short introduction of the origins of the NRA putting into context the thirty years of Annual Meetings previously held on Wimbledon Common prior to the move to Bisley in 1890 and the build up of the close relationship with the LSWR.
Chris will be including the narrow garage range tramway which transported competitors to the far ranges of the NRA (the so-called Siberia Ranges) between 1890 and 1914 as well as the Military Extension which ran from Bisley Camp, via Pirbright and Deepcut, to Blackdown Camp during WW1 (between 1916 and 1928) and to Deepcut Camp only in WW2.
This presentation covers the close relationship at this time between the NRA and the local main line Railway Company (the L&SWR and its successors).

The SSME website states that they are a society for anyone interested in model engineering, although they mainly concentrate on miniature railways. The club grounds are situated in a beautiful part of Surrey, close to the River Mole at the lower end of Leatherhead.
Thier extensive tracks feature both ground and raised level, in many gauges, with a variety of different locomotives & rolling stock. Their 320 metre long Jubilee extension opened on the 4th June 2012, so giving a longer ride on every Public Open Day.
Further details to follow.
